FAQs

What does PGCC tuition include?

Tuition covers all academic classes in Professional Golf Management (PGM) as well as career planning and placement services. Tuition also covers professional golf training via golf activities five days a week. All green fees, range balls and private lessons with our PGA professionals are included in our students' college tuition. Also included with the golf instructional program are use of a driving range and training aids such as video cameras, putter tracks, swing plane trainers, swing mirrors, indoor hitting cages, weight shift monitors, and training clubs.

How much is tuition, and when are tuition payments made?

After acceptance, new students receive a student contract which must be completed and returned with a $500 deposit to reserve a place in the entering class. The deposit will be applied to the payment of the tuition for the first semester with the balance due the 1st of the month preceding the semester start. Students are billed for one semester at a time. Tuition is $5,590.00 per semester for U.S. residents, and $5,890.00 for all international students.

How long is the Management program?

Professional Golfers Career College offers a four-semester program which takes 16 months to complete. For specific schedules, check the Academic Calendar.

What are the requirements for enrollment?

Men and women must be past the age of compulsory education and have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent. Applicants who want to be club professionals should have a golf handicap of 10 or less. Applicants who desire to be general managers of golf courses or sales representatives should have golf handicaps of 20 or below. Students must provide a completed Application for Admission, and an official transcript for high school and, if applicable, college. Transfer credits can be considered. Transcripts must be stamped, signed and sealed by the school to be accepted by PGCC. Also needed are three letters of recommendation as noted in the "reference" section of the application, and a fourth letter from a golf coach or professional testifying to handicap or playing ability of the applicant. An attested copy of an official handicap card can be submitted in lieu of a letter from a professional or coach if desired.

What kind of job will I be qualified for after graduation?

Graduates will be able to give golf instruction, manage a pro shop, merchandise golf products, and assist in the administration of golf tournaments. Our graduates are not only golf professionals and general managers of country clubs, but also recommended and valuable employees of golf-related manufacturing and other companies. Employers have found our graduates to have the skills which make them successful in the competitive environment of the business of golf.

What kinds of jobs do your graduates have?

Our graduates are employed all over the world in positions as Golf Professionals, Tournament Directors, Teaching Professionals, Country Club General Managers, and Sales Representatives. Because our students vary so much in age, experience and previous education, the type of position available to the graduate often depends upon the student's background. Our Specialized Associate Degree enables a graduate to enter or transfer their skills to the golf industry. See our current list of graduate job placements.

Do you provide student housing?

Professional Golfers Career College offers optional student housing on a first-come, first-served basis. The college rents fully-furnished, non-smoking apartments from a local apartment community, and leases them to students on a double-occupancy basis. For those that wish to take part in this housing program, PGCC takes an active role in helping to suitably match roommates.

Do you provide financial aid?

Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Tuition is due every semester for each four-month term. For more information contact Financial Aid Officer, Ann Arnold via e-mail.

PGCC is pleased to fill its classes with motivated students, so there is often a waiting list for enrollment for a freshman class. Therefore, if you intend to use financial aid to help pay your tuition, please act quickly.

Are any of your students seeking a second career?

Many of our second-career students possess at least one college degree, and enjoyed success in another field such as law, engineering, or the military. Now these professionals are entering a new career that satisfies them like no other.

PGCC is well recommended by our graduates out in the real world of the golf industry — see our alumni testimonials. Your tuition should be an investment in a career that returns life-long rewards.

What is your placement rate?

We've dedicated ourselves to giving students the best career education possible, and it's that kind of dedication that results in 92% of our students finding employment in their chosen field within sixty days of earning their degree.

Are you accredited?

Yes! Professional Golfers Career College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award an Occupational Associate's Degree. The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is listed as a nationally recognized agency by the U.S. Department of Education. The Council's accreditation also is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Do I graduate with a degree?

Yes. Graduates of Professional Golfers Career College receive a Specialized Associate's Degree in Professional Golf Management (PGM). To graduate, students must pass all classes in professional golf management (19 credits), physical education (19 credits), and science (4) credits. Are there extracurricular activities for students?

Each semester, we have three major, multi-day golf tournaments: The President's Cup, The International Cup, and the Semester Championship. Students qualify for the President's Cup and the International Cup based on their semester scoring averages and they play against the faculty team. The Semester Championship is a students only tournament and is contested to crown each semester's champion. Each of the tournaments is followed by a College-sponsored pizza party with awards and prizes.

In addition to golf, PGCC students take part in a variety of other extra curricular activites from ice hockey to bowling. Students are fortunate that both Southern California and Orlando offer a wide variety of things to do and places to go.

What are provisions for individual differences among students?

A hallmark of our professionalism is that each administrator and faculty member understands that great individual differences exist among our students. Coming from anywhere in the world, students may range from practicing lawyers, accountants, and others with advanced degrees and broad life-experience to young students just out of high school. Our faculty is fully aware that these great educational differences create special challenges in planning classes to intrigue and involve everyone. To pace a class appropriately while building in thoughtful content takes dedication, enthusiasm and creative preparation.
