International Match-Play Championship
Menifee Lakes Country Club Nothing stirs the competitive spirit quite like a friendly tournament. It is that spirit of friendly competition that prompted the creation of the International Match-Play Championship. Longtime friend of Dr. Tim Somerville, President & Founder of the Professional Golfers Career College, Dr. Jeong-Dug Sul, a professor of Sports Science, and golf instructor in Korea, recently toured PGCC’s Temecula campus. He was accompanied by 20 of his most distinguished students from Korea, and various other countries.

Dr. Sul brought his students to the states as part of a four-month intensive golf program of play and practice. In his four-month program students learn principles and practical knowledge of golf on the course, and on the range. The afternoon that Dr. Sul and his students toured PGCC, the campus was not the only thing to generate a lot of interest. Along the tour, which took the better part of two hours, conversation about the school eventually became conversation about a friendly match and it didn't take long for all parties involved to sign on for an impromptu tournament, and celebratory post-championship dinner, hosted by PGCC, in the Temecula campus' St. Andrew's Auditorium.

The match will be Dr. Sul’s 20 students against PGCC’s team of the top twenty qualifiers for the Fall 2009 International Cup, essentially, the top 20 players in the school. The teams will be competing for the title of International Match- Play Champion and the match will be held on February 12th, at the beautiful Menifee Lakes Country Club. Best of luck to both teams competing.
